Some branding shoots feel special from the moment you start planning them. Others completely sweep you away into a world of creativity, colour, and storytelling. This shoot with Sammy, the artist behind Dangereux Ceramics, was absolutely the latter.

From the very beginning, it was clear that this wasn’t going to be a typical product shoot. Sammy’s ceramics are bold, playful, and wonderfully unconventional. Her pieces feel like they belong in a whimsical storybook — full of character, colour, and unexpected details. Capturing that spirit meant creating something equally imaginative, where the setting, the styling, and the atmosphere all echoed the personality of her work.

When you photograph a brand like this, you’re not just documenting products. You’re telling a visual story about creativity, inspiration, and the artist behind the work. And Sammy’s world is a particularly magical one to step into.

The Magic of Dangereux Ceramics

Sammy’s work is truly something special. Each vase, jug, and ceramic piece she creates feels like a tiny sculpture — hand-built, expressive, and full of personality.

Her designs are anything but predictable.

Bright oranges, deep purples, soft pastels, playful stripes, curved handles, and sculptural shapes all come together to create ceramics that feel both artistic and joyful. Some pieces have rounded, whimsical handles that twist and curl like something from a fairytale. Others feature bold colour blocking or charming lettering that feels cheeky and playful.

Many of her vases almost feel like characters themselves. Their shapes are slightly wonky in the most beautiful way — intentionally imperfect, delightfully quirky, and full of charm. The glossy glazes catch the light beautifully, creating layers of texture and depth that make each piece feel alive.

What I love most about Sammy’s work is the sense of fun woven into every design. These aren’t pieces meant to sit quietly on a shelf — they bring life into a space. They invite conversation. They make people smile.

Every single piece is handmade, and you can feel that human touch in the curves, colours, and little details that make each ceramic object completely unique.

So when we started conceptualising her branding shoot, we knew we needed to lean fully into that energy — creating a setting that felt just as bold, colourful, and imaginative as the ceramics themselves.

A Fairytale Table of Colour

The vision was simple: create a magical, storybook-style table that showcased Sammy’s ceramics in all their colourful glory.

We filled a long outdoor table with her incredible vases and pitchers, layering them with fresh flowers, stacked books, playful cakes, and vintage-style crockery. Each ceramic piece became part of a bigger scene — a whimsical garden setting that felt both curated and delightfully chaotic, as though someone had just stepped away from a magical tea party.

Bright blooms spilled out of Sammy’s sculptural vases, adding height, texture, and movement to the scene. Dahlias, soft white flowers, and deep purple blossoms contrasted beautifully with the vibrant ceramic glazes.

The colours were absolutely breath-taking.

Vibrant orange vases sat next to striped ceramic jugs. Purple blooms spilled out of sculptural vessels. Soft pink cakes and pastel tea sets balanced the bold tones of the ceramics, creating a palette that felt joyful, artistic, and completely true to Sammy’s brand.

Even the smallest details played a role — stacked books under vases, delicate teacups, and patterned table linens helped create layers of interest that made the scene feel rich and full of personality.

It felt like stepping into a dream — a dreamy garden feast where every object told its own story.

The Most Magical Location

And then there was the setting — Sammy’s home.

Some places simply have an energy about them, and Sammy’s home in Noordhoek is one of those rare spaces that instantly feels magical the moment you arrive. Surrounded by lush greenery and wild gardens, the property feels like its own little hidden world.

From her garden, you can see sweeping views overlooking the incredible stretch of Noordhoek Beach. The open skies, the fresh ocean air, and the gentle sound of the wind moving through the trees created the most peaceful atmosphere for the shoot.

It’s the kind of place where creativity feels effortless.

Palm trees sway gently in the background while flowering plants burst with colour around every corner. There’s a relaxed, natural beauty to the space that feels authentic and unpolished in the most wonderful way — the perfect reflection of Sammy’s artistic spirit.

Photographing a brand in the environment where it naturally exists adds a depth that studio shoots often can’t replicate. Sammy’s ceramics felt completely at home here, surrounded by the textures, colours, and wild beauty of her garden.

But the real magic?

Her horses live right there in her backyard.

SupaNova and Hidalgo Steal the Show

Sammy’s horses, SupaNova and Hidalgo, were such a special part of this shoot. Having them nearby added something truly unique to the imagery — something you simply can’t recreate in a studio environment.

Their presence added a sense of quiet elegance to the scene.

They wandered through the garden calmly and curiously, completely unfazed by the colourful table setup and camera equipment. Their gentle curiosity made for some incredibly natural moments, and their soft, calm energy filled the entire space.

SupaNova, with her graceful presence, stood peacefully near the table as though she had always been part of the set. Hidalgo brought his own charm, moving quietly through the background and adding an organic, living element to the images.

There’s something incredibly grounding about horses. Their calm nature slows everything down, creating a peaceful rhythm to the shoot.

Seeing SupaNova standing beside the vibrant ceramic display was one of those rare moments where everything aligns perfectly — the colours, the animals, the environment, and the creativity all coming together in one frame.

It felt authentic. It felt magical, and it felt very Sammy.

A Brand That Feels Like a Story

What made this shoot so special wasn’t just the beautiful ceramics or the incredible location — it was the story behind it all.

Sammy’s brand is an extension of her world: creative, colourful, a little bit wild, and full of heart. Photographing her ceramics in her own space, surrounded by the animals she loves and the landscape she calls home, allowed that story to unfold naturally.

Nothing felt staged. Nothing felt forced.

The flowers, the horses, the ceramics, the garden — everything blended together into one beautiful narrative that felt true to who Sammy is as both an artist and a person.

You could feel the joy in the process, the pride in her work, and the creativity flowing through every part of the shoot.

Why I Love Creating Branding Stories Like This

This shoot is exactly the kind of work I love creating for brands.

For me, branding photography isn’t just about taking photos of products. It’s about capturing the essence of a business — the personality behind it, the environment it lives in, and the feeling people experience when they connect with it.

It’s about creating images that don’t just show what a brand sells, but tell the story of why it exists.

With Dangereux Ceramics, that essence is joy, creativity, and a little bit of playful chaos.

And I truly believe the images speak for themselves.

This shoot reminded me why I love branding photography so much: when everything aligns — the vision, the location, the creativity, and the people involved — you don’t just create photos.

You create a world.

And stepping into Sammy’s colourful, whimsical world of ceramics, horses, flowers, and seaside magic was an absolute dream. ✨
