There’s something undeniably magical about a family’s first Christmas with a new baby. Recently, I had the joy of photographing a beautiful family in the comfort of their Cape Town home as they celebrated their first festive season with their newest addition, baby Gigi. Their home was a wonderland of Christmas cheer, brimming with love, laughter, and a sprinkle of French bulldog charm, courtesy of their adorable pups, Kardi and Yugi.
A Festive Home Filled with Love
The moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by a dazzling Christmas tree that could have easily graced the cover of a magazine. Decked out in shimmering ornaments, twinkling lights, and thoughtful personal touches, it served as the perfect backdrop for this family’s holiday portraits. The warmth of the home’s festive décor extended beyond the tree, with garlands, candles, and cosy details creating a scene straight out of a Christmas storybook.
Baby Gigi, with her chubby cheeks and wide-eyed wonder, was undoubtedly the star of the shoot. Dressed in an adorable holiday outfit, she brought a sense of magic to every photo. It was heart-warming to capture her parents holding her close, their expressions radiating love and pride as they celebrated this special milestone together.
No family shoot is complete without including every member of the household, and Kardi and Yugi made sure they weren’t left out. These two French bulldogs were absolute naturals in front of the camera, posing like seasoned pros next to the tree and adding an extra layer of cuteness to the photos. From their festive collars to their playful antics, Kardi and Yugi reminded me why pets are such an integral part of family life.
Some of my favourite moments from the session were the candid interactions between the dogs and baby Gigi. There was one particularly sweet shot where Gigi fell asleep in her dads arms while resting on her own hand.
