One of my absolute favourite parts of being a photographer in Cape Town is getting to share this beautiful city with people seeing it for the very first time. There’s something magical about watching visitors fall in love with the mountains, the ocean, the winding coastal roads — and then being able to freeze those first memories forever.

Recently, I had the joy of photographing Sheldon and You-Meng, who travelled all the way from Holland to experience Cape Town’s beauty. From the very first frame, their energy was calm, playful, and full of curiosity — the kind of shoot that feels less like “posing” and more like simply tagging along on an adventure.

Wandering Through Kirstenbosch Gardens

We started our session surrounded by the towering cliffs and lush greenery of Kirstenbosch Gardens. The air was soft and slightly overcast — the kind of weather that wraps everything in warmth and mood.

Watching Sheldon twirl You-Meng gently across the grass felt like something out of a quiet movie moment — no rush, no pressure, just the two of them enjoying being somewhere new together. You could almost feel their appreciation for the stillness, the space, and the way the mountain seemed to hold the scene together.

Barefoot Feelings at Hout Bay Beach

From the gardens, we made our way down to Hout Bay, where sand, sea and sky opened up around us.

The two of them walked hand-in-hand along the shoreline, laughing as the breeze tugged at their hair. There was something so simple and genuine about the moment — no grand gestures, just love, travel, and the quiet thrill of being far from home, with the person you love most.

Those soft, salty, sun-washed photographs already feel like memories — the kind that grow even more special with time.

Boats, Harbours & Coastal Charm in Kalk Bay

Next stop: Kalk Bay Harbour — colourful boats, gentle movement of the water, and the soft sounds of everyday life along the pier.

Here, Sheldon and You-Meng wandered along the harbour edge, taking everything in. They paused, chatted, looked out over the water, and every now and then exchanged those small smiles that say everything without having to speak.

It was relaxed, authentic, and beautifully Cape Town.

Breath-taking Views on Chapman’s Peak

To finish their adventure, we wound our way up Chapman’s Peak Drive — one of the most iconic scenic routes in the world.

Perched along the stone wall overlooking the ocean, they sat close together, wind brushing past, cliffs rising behind them and endless ocean stretching out ahead. It was one of those scenes where nature feels huge, yet somehow makes the moment between two people feel even more intimate.

It was calm. Peaceful. Completely unforgettable.

Why I Love Photographing Tourists in Cape Town

Every time I photograph visitors, I’m reminded of how special Cape Town truly is.

Locals get used to the views — but when I see it through someone’s eyes for the first time again, I fall in love with it all over.

Shoots like this aren’t just about beautiful photographs.

They’re about:

✨ capturing new experiences

✨ documenting adventures

✨ freezing the feeling of seeing somewhere extraordinary for the first time

Sheldon and You-Meng’s gallery feels like a visual travel diary — filled with movement, laughter, connection and the quiet joy of exploring together.

And I’m so grateful I got to be the one behind the camera.

If you’re planning a trip to Cape Town and would love your adventure captured — whether it’s by the mountains, along the coast, or anywhere in between — I’d love to join you on the journey.

Let’s make memories you can take home with you 💛
