There’s something incredibly special about photographing people while they’re on holiday. The pace is slower, the laughter comes easier, and there’s an unmistakable sense of freedom in the air. That’s exactly what made this shoot with Feyi and her best friend so memorable. Visiting Cape Town all the way from Nigeria, these two arrived ready to soak up everything the Mother City had to offer — sunshine, culture, colour, and of course, a little photoshoot magic.

We chose Bo-Kaap, Cape Town as the backdrop for their session, and honestly, I couldn’t have imagined a better location. Nestled at the foot of Signal Hill, Bo-Kaap is one of Cape Town’s most iconic neighbourhoods, known for its brightly painted houses, rich history, and vibrant energy. Every street feels alive, every corner tells a story — which made it the perfect canvas to capture the fun, stylish, and joyful personalities of these best friends.
From the moment we started shooting, it felt less like a photoshoot and more like a walk through the city with friends. There was laughter echoing down the cobbled streets, playful glances over shoulders, and that effortless confidence that comes from years of friendship. These are the moments I live for as a photographer — the in-between shots, the genuine smiles, the way someone looks when they’re completely in their element.
Why Bo-Kaap Is a Dream Location for Travel Photography in Cape Town
Bo-Kaap isn’t just colourful for the sake of being pretty (though it definitely is that). Its pastel pinks, sunny yellows, soft blues, and bold greens create a visual feast that photographs beautifully in natural light. For travellers visiting Cape Town, it’s one of those places that instantly feels like Cape Town — full of character, culture, and charm.
For Feyi and her bestie, the colourful houses mirrored their energy perfectly. Bold outfits against bold walls. Movement against still architecture. Joy framed by history. It was a reminder that choosing the right location can elevate your travel photos from “nice holiday snaps” to timeless memories you’ll treasure forever.
Capturing Your Travels: More Than Just Photos
Travel photography is about so much more than documenting where you’ve been. It’s about capturing how it felt. The excitement of exploring a new city. The confidence that comes from stepping outside your comfort zone. The connection you feel with the people you experience it all with.
Years from now, these images won’t just remind Feyi and her best friend that they visited Cape Town — they’ll remember the warmth of the sun on their skin, the sound of their laughter bouncing off Bo-Kaap’s walls, and the feeling of walking freely through a city that welcomed them with open arms.
That’s why I always encourage travellers to book a photoshoot while they’re away. You deserve to be in your memories, not just behind the camera. Your travels are chapters of your life story, and having them captured professionally allows you to relive those moments long after the holiday ends.
Cape Town Through My Lens
As a Cape Town photographer, it’s always an honour to show visitors the city through my lens. Whether it’s the colourful streets of Bo-Kaap, the golden light of Signal Hill, or the ocean breeze along the Atlantic Seaboard, Cape Town has a way of bringing out something special in everyone who visits.
This shoot was a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do — connecting with people from all over the world, capturing their stories, and freezing moments of joy in one of the most breath-taking cities on earth.
From Nigeria to Cape Town, this was more than just a holiday. It was a celebration of friendship, travel, and living fully in the moment — and I’m so grateful I got to capture it. ✨
