As we head into the new year, it’s time for some changes. With 2025 on the horizon, I've made the decision to retire my “mini” 30-minute sessions. This move isn’t one I’ve taken lightly—I've loved capturing moments for clients who have chosen these smaller sessions over the years. However, I believe it’s time to re-align my business to focus more on offering an exceptional, full-service experience for clients who want the most out of their sessions.
Why I'm Discontinuing Mini Sessions
Mini sessions, though popular for their convenience, often create unique challenges that don’t fit within the broader vision of my photography services. Here’s a look at some of the primary reasons for this change:
1. Time Management and Overruns
Mini sessions are designed to be short, time-efficient experiences. But anyone who's attended one knows that capturing genuine, heart-warming moments can take a little more time than planned. I often find myself running over the 30-minute timeframe to make sure I don’t miss the perfect shot or a special moment. This turns a quick, half-hour session into a longer one, creating a ripple effect across my schedule.
2. Volume of Galleries and Editing Work
Mini sessions typically mean more clients within a shorter period. While this sounds like a positive, it often translates into dozens of galleries to edit and deliver—each requiring the same attention to detail as a full session. Clients trust me to provide quality work, and every gallery deserves my best, but this workload can quickly pile up, leading to a risk of burnout. Instead, I want to dedicate my time and energy to providing a more thorough and intentional service for those seeking the full experience.
3. Sustainability and Value
Photography is an art form, one that requires time, focus, and the right conditions. Mini sessions, while convenient, can sometimes create a rushed atmosphere, missing out on the depth that a full session allows. By focusing on premium sessions, I can better capture meaningful, layered images without the pressure of time constraints. For me, it’s about connecting with each client’s vision and providing a high-quality experience from start to finish, ensuring the investment feels truly worth it.
What’s Next: Focusing on Full-Service Experiences
Going forward, I’ll be dedicating my time to full-session experiences that provide clients with everything they deserve—a relaxed, comprehensive session without the clock ticking in the background. Here’s what clients can look forward to in the new year:
Custom Tailored Sessions: I want each shoot to be as unique as the people I photograph. Full sessions allow me to customize each experience to reflect my client’s personality and desires. We can explore a variety of settings, poses, and ideas, giving each session a personalized feel.
Quality over Quantity: Instead of high volumes of shorter sessions, I’ll have the opportunity to focus my energy on a select number of clients who value a full-service, premium photography experience. This shift will help maintain the high standards of quality my clients expect while ensuring I can give each gallery the dedication it deserves.
A Refined, Stress-Free Experience: Without the rushed pace of back-to-back mini sessions, I can create a relaxed environment, fostering authentic interactions and genuine expressions. This means more beautiful, candid shots and an experience you can truly enjoy without the worry of time.
For My Valued Clients
I know this is a change, and it may come as a surprise if you’ve previously relied on mini sessions. I encourage you to see this shift as an opportunity for an elevated experience—a session where time is ours, and creativity can flow freely. Whether it’s family portraits, branding sessions, or cherished pet photos, my goal is to give you an unforgettable, full-service experience that feels tailored to you.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we move into this new chapter. I’m excited to create even more meaningful, high-quality memories together in 2025!
